Who we are

We are the Kingfisher Bookstore, an independent family-owned bookstore on Coupeville's historic waterfront and we love books.  We are learners and books are our teachers. We are creators and books are our inspiration. We are travelers and books are our ships. We are dreamers and books are our guides.

What we do

We want to match everyone who walks in the door with a book they will love. We specialize in books by Pacific Northwest writers and about the human and natural history of this incredible part of the world, but we have a little bit of everything...

Pirates and Knights! Puppies and Bunnies!

We have some incredible local talent when it comes to books for young readers, and two of the finest will be in the store this Sunday to talk about their new titles!
Audrey Mackaman is the creator of the Cavall in Camelot series, and we are celebrating her new book, full of fresh adventures for King Arthur and his faithful pup.
Eldritch Black, author of The Book of Kindly Deaths and the popular holiday title Krampus and the Thief of Christmas, has created a new series set right here on "Weirdbey Island." From pirates in Penn Cove to some sinister rabbits in Langley, these books are flying off our shelves! Bring your young readers in to meet the authors and get books signed just for them this Sunday at 2 p.m or pick up some special gifts!
